...so a couple of days ago bought myself one...
On a "sort of a honeymoon" (didn't have a proper one yet), went to buy a gigbag for the stingray, seen it, played it on a genz 1200 and nagged for the next 24 hours. Then went back and bought the damn thing.
Interesting thing is...S (not H) was the decision maker on this one...
Anyway, camera is broke so...as for proof of life...iPhone photo will have to do...for now...

The steps of becoming a Bongoloid (an interactive game for the forum)...

1. Disbelief: You see Bongo, you are confused. It doesn't look like anything you have seen. You can't tell if you like it or don't but you are strangely attracted to it.

Have fun. JOSH

I made the switch from guitar to bass full time to get a sweet gig. Being a MM fan (customer service is amazing - instruments phenomenal) playing a Morse model for almost 20 I new I wanted to stay in the family. Bought a Bongo long distance and......ahhhhh! All of a sudden I am the bass player I always wanted!

I never hated the bongo, I just always thought it was ugly. I still think it's ugly...and I sold mine. I'll probably buy another....

the thing is...guitars are rarely set up properly in the shops, basses are even worse, bad strings, high action, so I never had the chance to play one that works like it should, always had to guess. The store i bought it in was my kinda place...nobody breathing down your neck telling you stories...they almost ignore you...all the guitars are displayed, all the amps are hooked up, cables everywhere...do what you like...so it was either the bongo or a ray fretless...
Now, the S is kind of in the way when i pop...but it's probably a matter of adjusting to it.
This has probably been covered...but why the name and who came up with it?
(when you look at it, it does look like a Bongo whatever the "bongo" may be)

+1 .. I have similar feelings for the Reflex ... and I just hope that these basses don't show up too early here in Austria ... otherwise I might also suffer from severe GAS ...

Loving My Bongo: a poem from Louis

:) Welcome to the loving the Bongo club; you are now a Bongoloid 1st Class.

Yet another poem in praise of the Bongo...

Beneath its looks lies a loving heart where music strongly will beat
One glance you buy, to give Big Poppa dancing feet.
No other bass, suffices to obtain that tonal range,
Grunge or grinding, deep or smooth all
Others fail to hit the spot, once played and heard opinions quickly change!

Enjoy!
