Oh, by the way, how about a EVH re-issue??? No, no, don't start this down the wrong path, I think it's a "viable" suggestion for a 25th.
Really?
I can't see what it would say about the innovation and design philosophy of Sterling and the crew he has assembled, to re-issue an old model.
There's absolutely no doubting that the EVH was a great guitar, just as the Axis is a great guitar, but Sterling is always talking of moving forwards with the design. Trying different configurations, exploring sustainable materials for use in building guitars, developing new electronics and the like are just some examples.
Take the anniversary models for example. Each pays tribute to the heritage of the instrument, whilst at the same time incorporating new features and pushing the overall concept further. It was from the 20th Silhouette that the tone block concept was developed. If they'd just re-issued an existing design, who knows if they would ever have explored this option.
One of the things that, for me, sets EBMM apart from the rest, is the innovation of design that it shows and watching those concepts become a reality.
I can't wait to see some of the photos of the new guitar and bass and I'm saving for it now.
