Hi Guys...just got back from playing an amazing open air concert here in the UK with Brian May...7000 fans came to see us...A friend just found this link on Brian's site so check it out, also the pic is attached...Brian with his original Red Special...the one he built with his father, and the one that carved so many classic recordings, with me by his side with my Old Faithfull Axis Supersport, the guitar that I have played for 11 years, and couldnt be without!!..I love this part of the set, when we play the harmony solo togather in his amazing instrumental "Last Horizon"...I am such a fan..I still pinch myself when I see this pic, and cant believe its me!! :D ....I thought this pic was worthy of sharing with you guys...hope you like it..Jamie H

If that was me I would actually carry that pic in my wallet lol. Just a tremendous gig for you J and even though you are an ace player in your own right I am sure you are keeping your ears open and getting an education as well.

Hey guys..thanks for your posts...I had to share as it was with me and Brian with my Axis Supersport in full flight...I have a memory early on in the tour...Brian came up to me in soundcheck, I was messing with my rack..I use a GCX system..I have 2 of them in the rack, with a Line 6 Echo Pro and Modulation Pro Rack units, for delay and chorus...I mainly us the Mod pro with Brian, for a nice wide stereo vintage chorus...As Brian use's chorus in his rig, wet, dry, wet..3 amps...I also have a couple of slide out rack trays with pedals in...A Blackstar Valve Boost, 2 Dyna comps, one for clean, and one for crunch, although I dont think I have used the one set for crunch..I also have a Brian May Fryer treble booster, the red touring model, and an Xotic EP Boost..I just added that, replacing my MXR Micro amp, which has been my main booster for years...I prefer boosters on top of a slightly crunchy amp, as apposed to OD or distortion pedals...The EP boost doesnt colour the tone..its very pure and transparent..I also have an LR Baggs venue DI on the bottom tray, for my peizo on all 3 of my touring ASS..I also have a power conditioner, as well as an MXR/CAE Rack power unit for pedals..anyway..I was messing with my gear, adjusting chorus settings, and also my amps settings, I use 2 Series One 50 Blackstar heads..I love the midi switching..I can control the entire rig with the Voodoo Lab Ground Control..Brian came over, and together we matched my tone to his..I wanted to get it as close as i could, so that I could really emulate Brian when doublingon rhythm parts, or backing him with rhythm parts on solos, and also for when we play harmonies together..It was so cool..the pair of us messing with my rig..I was playing and Brian was making the adjustments...The he asked if I minded if he tried my rig!!..There he was, playing Queen parts through my gear on my Old Faithfull ASS..he loved it!!..It was a real moment for me..Brian really takes the time with me, and we feedoff each other, exchanging indeas...and yes...you guys are correct..it is an education..while I have spent years practising technique, and mastering scales etc..my last year with Brian has taught me somuch about touch and dynamics..I have always used the guitar controls...I rather have one sound and back off the volume to clean it up...Thats why I love my MM guitars...the controls work!!...and Brian even said to me just the other day, that he loves working with me..I get his tone, I play his parts from the originals spot on, I guess thats from years of transcribing and Lick Library work, but he also said that I have a sence of dynamics, and really think musically..I was blown away!! To have a mentor like Brian is a dream come true!!..and to have him say something like that really lifted my confidence as a player, and also made me realise that working with him I have learnt somany valuble lessons..I truley believe that any accomplished musician always wants to better themselves as a player, and never really truley feels they have mastered the instrument...but thats the beauty of playing..but I really do feel that I have learnt, and improved in many area thanks to Brian!!...His lessons, and advise with live with me for ever, and he really is helping me to become a better guitarist...So yes....I am lucky...he could of had anyone as his second guitar player but for some reason he choose me, and keeps offering me with more work and opportunities...I have something very exciting that I will announce soon, so stay tuned!!..Once again..thanks for your posts and I'll keep you all up to speed with posts regarding working with one of the greatest, and most influential and important guitarists in rock history!! Jamie H :D
