Hi guys.. here is a teaser for my new Lick Library DVD released this week. I used my Black custom built Silhouette Special on this one, running into a Thundertomate TAE pedal that was direct to the board.. I have two other DVD's filmed that i'll post when they're released. I start work on a new Learn to Play David Gilmour, looking at 5 of his solo songs.. i'm hoping to film/record this project on a Cutlass.. Jamie

Jamie, what are your thoughts on using, for the David Gilmour stuff, a Cutlass vs. a Silo Special vs. something with EMGs, say a Luke?

Hi Eilif. I've not tried a Cutlass, but I'm very keen too for my next Gilmour DVD. I think maybe the Luke wouldn't be that suitable because of the bridge Humbucker. I've done all of my Gilmour/Aussie Floyd stuff with a pair of Silhouette Special's. I have have high hopes for the Cutlass, and hope to get a black Gilmour-esque one for my next project. jamie

It depends on what Gilmour stuff you want to do. He's moved away from using EMG's live (and it's doubtful he used them much in recording).

A huge part of his "sound" comes from a Tube Driver and Big Muff (with a decent delay), into the front end of a decent, clean, valve amp.

I can get pretty good approximations from both my Axis Sport (SSS) and 20th Anniversary Silhouette.

Like Jamie though, I'm really interested in a Cutlass in "Gilmour colours"!!

Loved your DVDs James ! I've learned so much with them, specially for us home players that don't have a lot of time to study and get the note by note things quickly enough.
