No pedal. Perhaps you heard the synth doubling the bass part. I plugged straight into the audio interface and into GarageBand. Thanks!

Very nice playing - a Paul Turner bass part! I learned this when the single was released - it's quite tricky.

The Bongo sounds close to the original sound on the recording (a Paul Turner interview quoted him as saying it's Precision on the verses and Stingray 4 on the choruses).

What settings did you use on the bass?

I would never think to change basses on a song's recording, unless it was between fretted and fretless. I'll have to listen to the recording again. I've seen Paul playing Stingrays before (SR5 & SR4), among other various basses.

Hey thanks guys! Glad you enjoyed my dog Rick too. Haha. I was rolled about 75% to the neck pickup. I love the neck pickup sound on these basses. I'll have to do my next cover on my fretless just for fun. Haha.

Ha ha! They did one pass on the Precision (through a pre amp no doubt though so not totally passive) and he was asked to do one on the Stingray (pre EB 77) - and they used it how I said - I must say it sounds all Stingray to me but that was the interview I read - it does sound a bit smoother in the choruses. I had the chance to talk to him earlier in the year and he said he uses SR5 for recording still - he used a Jazz for the performance I watched, and also with Jamiroquy when I saw them last year. His band has an album out shortly - 4 piece involving the guitarist and drummer from Jamiroquy and a singer.

Hey Ben - I must try that setting on the Bongo, it sounds good. A fretless recording would be good!

When they played on Live From Abbey Road, he was using a P for this song, but used a Jazz for the other songs.
