I was over double your age when I could afford my first (used) Axis. I've now built up a collection of fine guitars but it took years. Study hard, work hard and then you will acheive your goals. Don't waste time with jealousy or self pity.

My first guitar was a cheapo - then played all over uk with just the one guitar for many years.

I wish that i could have had more guitars in my 20's but it wasn't to be.

Got more now - and I'm just about there, insofar as the guitars I have do what I want - I may get just one more when the gamechanger comes out - I'm saving up for one - I've volunteered to work away for a little more money so that will be going in the savings too (piggy bank). I can't just go out and buy one - gig money also helps.

To get my first Albert Lee I sold off a load of "rubbish" on E bay, did odd jobs and just saved hard.

If it counts for anything, I was making $3.35 an hour bussing tables to save up for the green EVH. Needless to say, it took many months before I had enough to buy it. I was pinching pennies, but it was worth it.

All good things come in time. :)

Im just freaken crazy about doing the neck. Its milestone but tomorrow ill get package from shop with truss rod and frets. When routing done, i have to look for bandsaw owner.

Mahogany mahogany mahogany. Thinking how it will "talk" with maple and fixed bridge. Anyone have used Liquifire / Crunchlab for sale? These pickups will ruin me ;-)

Was 37 when I got my first used Axis and before I had a strat copy hohner that I was using while being a student and got my first Mexican strat in 1992. My first decent guitar was the Axis, I own now 7 guitars and a bass but as Steve said I worked hard and rather spend this sort of money in guitars than in cars :)

but I work 16 hours a day so when I finally have tome to play I really enjoy my EBMM guitars

Just remember, it's all in your hands and in YOU. EVH made his greatest overall albums IMHO with a homemade guitar....no fancy signature model or anything. Neck pocket issues, poor coupling, all sorts of random fixes...but he can play. I would venture to say there is quite a difference between a guitar collector and a guitar player. Some can do both but it is a small number.
That being said, all the above advice about working hard to get what you want is the key.
Best wishes and do not give up on owning as many guitars as you want...they are all specific tools for specific jobs. I hope your project turns out well and post some clips!

Just save...every penny counts when you want to save for a big project.

I also started with a cheap guitar, and now own 3 (2 MM and 1 PGM), and I´m thinking about buying some more...

You have to think that a good guitar (a quality MM) is almost like an investment. If you take good care of it, you´ll be able to get a good price when you sell it...

Anything´s possible. All you need to have is passion, determination and the drive to go after your dream, whatever it may be...

I have all these guitars (about 140) now because when I was young I could not afford the guitars I wanted. I actually lost a Natural EVH that I had a deposit on in college (1991) because when it came in, I couldn't get the money to pay it off. That stuck with me.

I put my head down, got a degree, and concentrated on my career and now I'm very fortunate to be able to afford what I want.

Good advice here on this forum, I played 350.00 guitars or less for about 15 years.....and gigged regularly with them......Remember..., 90% of tone....comes from your fingers and the way you play...However, all things are possible to him that believes......Follow your dreams....and in all labor there is profit......Don't get discouraged.....Good luck!!!

Just been having a think.

Gotta say well done to you sir for attempting to build a guitar. I'm sure that you will learn so much from this process - especially the setting up of a guitar to make it play right. I recently set up a guitar for a local Jam night. Strat based - sounded great but played terribly. After a bit of work on my part the guitar plays like a dream. This ties in with the EVH concept of building a guitar and making it sound and play great. I've no doubt that over a period of time and by trial and error you'll get there. I played a guitar in a local shop the other week that cost £37 !!!! It was unbelievable - a fantastic guitar - but it didn't say "Fender" or "Gibson" or "Ernie Ball"

So this leads me onto "Human Nature"
- human nature / aspiration is to have a guitar that is nice to play looks great and in many instances has the brand name attached to it.
I'm guessing that most people on this forum will buy for example certain Jeans, T Shirts shoes handbags!! that look great but is supplemented by the brand name and is a factor in their buying decision. This may not be the case accross the whole forum - but it does happen and always will - human nature is a fickle thing.

So this probably ties in with your aspiration to own (in this case) an American Ernie Ball guitar. The situation as it is in Europe/Poland is that these items cost a lot and is beyong individuals capability to buy. I don't want to open a debate here on why EB guitars cost more in Europe than in the US - Sterling has covered this many times in the past - Import duties are added, the cost of shipping, having a distribution network etc etc it is what it is - period! So maybe to manage your aspiration it may be the case that you have to buy second hand?
There have been unbelievable deals to be had - I picked up a JP 6 from the States, that needed a lot of work - I did it and I now have a guitar that cost me £525 that is worth double second hand. Deals are out there - keep an eye on American dealers who sell second hand EB's - you can buy and import them into Poland. They can even export SOME new guitars if they are old stock.

"All the world is a stage and all men and women are mere players. They have their exits and their entrances - one man in his time plays many parts"
- so play your part and eventually you will play an EB guitar THAT IS YOURS and YOU GOT IT via your efforts.

OMG - I'll shaddup now!!

This!! If I had to buy all my Balls at the going rate set by the distributor, I probably would have none or only one. You have to look hard, but it's worth it. Still a ****load of money of course, but be patient and try to save your pennies (or zloty in Poland). In the end you will get there! Took me 16 years of guitar playing before I had my first Music Man.

You are only 16. You have many years to make changes in your life that will afford you the ability to have a nice guitar or two or three - if that is what your goal is. It sounds like you've already made up your mind that you will never be able to buy a new EBMM. I would say to make it a point to be an exception to that line of thought. Make it happen!

I think that a common misconception is the age of many of the forum members here. I don't want to speak for everyone, but a lot of us are older than you would think. I myself have been working for 25 years to get some of the things I want. I didn't have a nice guitar until I was 27 years old. I don't think there are many 16 year old guitarists posting on this forum....congrats to you for being aware of EBMM at age 16....you are already further along than you might realize.

I'm 37 and have 3 EBMM guitars, which I was able to purchase in my mid 30's. When I was 16 I was making pizza at a restaurant for 3.25/hr. When I finished high school, I worked part time jobs to pay for university (BBA). Then after university I started my career. Now I have a family, a home and can plan for a cozy retirement and play with buying/selling EBMMs. Look into the Sterling guitars, I've picked up the JP and the AX and they feel pretty darn nice.
