I took the family to see John Fogerty at the Hollywood Bowl last night. Great show, and was totally packed.
The first set was the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and they a tribute to American composers... Berstein, Copland, Williams, and even a tribute to Michael Jackson (Thriller).
Forgerty played with his band for the second set. Killer set with plenty of CCR classics and solo songs. As far as instruments go, he changed guitars after every song. At least half of the songs he played a few different Les Pauls. However, he did play a blue Axis on one solo song (forget the name), some shredding on that song. He also played what looked like a modified JP for believe it or not many of the 'country' sounding CCR songs. The neck pup was zebra color like the Axis. Nice clean tones. During the encore, he played a tender love song with the LA Philharmonic. He played a Silhouette for that song.
Oh yeah, his bass player played a MM Bass too... I couldn't tell if it was a Stingray or Sterling. He also had some other musicians who played violin and steel guitar. These guys were great too.
The end was fireworks with LA Philharmonic playing in the background. Very nice firework show.
All in all a fine evening. They are playing tonight too, check it out.
