I am wondering if there are any options on this guitar other than finish choice? Is the piezo in all of them?

They all come fully loaded with piezo/inlays. Your choice is color and top (quilt or flame).

wait what...? Whats this about the "roasted maple neck"?

I want a BFR 7 with a smooth, non-finished neck back. Is there an option for neck woods or anything?

no.

i think you want one with mahog back or block and mahog neck. in this config, you can get 4 finishes in quilt or flame OR a Koa OR Dargie 2.

Rosewood necks were available to the BFR series but are quite rare. the new Black Sugar/Roasted Maple is not available to BFR . the rosewood necks were the only option for bare woods ever made available to the original BFR series.

Dante, just to be clear the Dargie 2 is no longer offered but there may be a few out there that are for sale.

You can certainly order a new BFR with the Black Sugar finish and a Roasted Maple neck, but it is not a bare neck it is gloss finished. It is the same upcharge as the Dargie II option.

As Dante said, the only raw neck offered on that particular guitar was the all-rosewood necks offered back in 2008.

hey pete. i think it's semantics because i think he wants a "normal" BFR and not a "BFR" ltd. if i recall correctly, there would be no black sugar BFRs, unlike the DD2.

either way he's going to have to look for a rosewood neck. i smell a long search ahead.

Devon: for what it's worth, the finished necks ain't so bad, especially EBMMs.

Dante, I asked about it a few days ago because I had people asking for quotes. You can get a #960, #961 (regular JP body style) a #962 (BFR JP body style), a baritone JP, a #968 (JPX) or any of the 7 string equivalents in the Brown Sugar package, but the only one you can't get is a Koa BFR JP in Brown Sugar. Other than that any guitar without a Floyd Rose goes.
