Hi Jon,

Emailed with you a couple months back about sending my JP (serial G22129) in to have a few things looked at (the main thing is a weird metallic pinging sound resonating from the guitar through the pickups when I strike the strings with enough force and my local tech can't figure it out) - I think I'm ready to do it. You'd said you'd be willing to take a look at the problem as well as do a good setup and neck re-oil/wax on it. I lost your email address though and the forum won't let me send you one - if you could send me a quick email with instructions on how to get the guitar to you if you're still able to do it, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks!
Ryan

Ryan:

Will forward this to Jon for resolve with you on level of his choice, either on the board or via email, etc.

I've noted your email address, and removed it from your post so that the Web spiders that search for email addresses don't catch it, and you get the gift of (more) spam in your inbox. (You can find threads from here on Google...if Google catches them you can bet your a** that a spider will!)

Hang tight, bud...we'll get you squared up! :)

i noticed the spring noise you are talking about on a jp i was checking out at G.C. the other day. it sounded like reverb. it was funny i was going to turn down the reverb on the amp and then noticed that it was turned all the way down. :)

Thanks a bunch Jon and Darrell! - I'll give that number a call tomorrow...

bluebullet - it isn't the springs in this case - I usually have tissue woven between them to stop that kind of ringing, but this is something totally different, a really high pitched thing (slightly above a 14th fret F#) that rings out even through the pickups after I've muted the strings - I play through a pretty high gain amp (5150) and it basically screws up any tight muted riffs or chord hits I play... My band is starting shows real soon so I need to get this taken care of before then hehe.

I would like to tell you, but I can't get it out of the *#$*#@* package. I am almost kidding. It came in today, and I don't know if i will get a chance to look at it today. Lots of NAMM Show stuff to work on.

Crap - sorry about the packaging man - that was the box they had at Rainbow Guitars here in Tucson and it got shoved in there before we realized the box was too small - my sincere apologies on that, hopefully it's not too much of a hassle cutting it open! I'll have to owe you a beer or something at NAMM if you're gonna be there... (I will be) :D

Thanks

Jon,

Got back from NAMM last night to find my guitar waiting here - all I can say is wow man - the setup is just awesome and the neck feels so nice! It literally hasn't played this well since I bought it.

For those wondering what the high pitched tone was, it's the strings ringing out sympathetically behind the nut, which I've already fixed with a piece of clear scotch tape over them just behind it.

I do have one small concern to ask you about - a stress crack about half an inch long apparently formed at the corner of the neck joint on the treble side somewhere in the shipping process - I just want to make sure that it's not something that's going to cause a problem later etc - I can post a pic of it if you want.

Thanks again though, and like I said earlier, I owe you one somehow!

Ryan,

The stress cracks are only in the finish. Nothing more than cosmetic, but if you decide you can't live with it, we will take care of you. BTW I am glad you liked the setup work I did. :D

Hey Jon,

I was only concerned that the crack went through to the actual wood, if it's just cosmetic I won't even think about sending it back, that'd be crazy to make you guys spend the time and money to repaint it or put another body on just because of that.

Thanks again for all the help with this, I'm a happy camper now!
