Question JP 12 neck high gloss polyester finish in Cherry Sugar

Hello,
After looking at old posts, I noticed a BFR Solar mahogany neck that had been sanded. Is this feasible on the JP 12 neck? Don't want to do a major overhaul if there is an option.
Amazing guitar but have been struggling to get the same feel as my Stealth black and Majesty Arctic dream finishes.
Anyone ever done a "sand" on the high gloss polyester finish neck?
Thanks for any advice.

my advice is to sell it a and watch for one of the rosewood neck or roasted maple neck jp12. They do come up.
If you sand it, theres no going back

^ Not true. Roasted Maple JP12's haven't ever been made for the public. And holding out for a Rosewood one isn't a safe bet either since the run is over and your chances of actually finding one aren't as good as a few months ago.

I sanded that neck prior to sending it to Lucas because he preferred it. You're going to need somethings to do this, and note it IS reversible.

- Masking Tape
- 600 Grit Sandpaper

You're going to mask however far up the neck you want to sand it off, I usually mask it close or exactly where the nut meets the fretboard. I also tape off the body/neck joint so you don't mistakingly sand the body as well. You're going to lightly use the 600 Grit Sandpaper to convert the section before the neck to Matte. Do it evenly and make sure that the finish is even throughout the sanding, you're barely taking off anything with this grit of sandpaper but it's good to have it looking professional.

When you're done having everything looking level, take off the tape and then take a damp rag and clean the excess stuff sitting on the neck that you removed with the sandpaper. I use a microfiber cloth to clean it and get sweat off of it.

And you should be done! If you ever want to bring it back to a high gloss, I recommend buffing it back or polishing it to get it back. I've sanded and reverted back to the original gloss several times on multiple guitars, you'll be alright.
