Good question, and according to BP's latest post, he doesn't have anything outside his 3 BFR's on tour with him right now. No more MD!

im thinking that he will stop using them to start off with because since its a new guitar he need to promote it, not that it would need promting, but in time i think he will just alternate between the two.

I think it's only for now, maybe a few more shows. JP said in an interview somewhere that he still loves his MD to death. The basic JPs and the F1s have different sonic qualities, and I doubt that JP would ever stop using his MD.

Is his MD (featured in most of Score) his favorite guitar? I read somewhere that he has a favorite among his 20 or so, but he didn't specify which one it was.

This is all IMHO. My bet is that once you see JP out on tour with DT this is what is going to happen. I think he will pull out the old guitars for old material, especially for the de-tuned stuff. He just needs a lot of guitars to cover all that. He seemed to have used the F1 proto for a lot of the new album. I imagine he will use the F1s on songs which he recorded with the F1. I think that will be the short-term trend. Who can predict what will happen in the long term? He may have more F1s made. Those may cover his alternate tuning needs. Who knows?

We'll see what happens when DT hit the road in June. We'll see what happens as the tour progresses. We'll see what happens when they do a new album and the next one and the next tour, etc.

I think the whole point of the F-1 was to take JP's playing to a new level and the old JP model wasn't letting him Grow as a player....so that why all the changes came about for the F-1 to begin with
BP told John that he wouldn't stop until John was totally satisfied .....so to sum up IF John IS totally satisfied AND the guitar takes him to a new level i really don't think he will pull out the old version
Just the way i see it:D
