I believe the first instrument with the compensated nut was indeed the Bongo, which was first launched in 2003, I have also read in this forum that after the compensated nut first appeared on the Bongo it was subsequently introduced to all the other lines of instruments.

After being introduced on the Bongo, it made an appearance on all other instruments in the 2005 LE Buttercream package. In late 2005 it appeared on all EB instruments (however I have never seen a SUB with a compensated nut, not to say it doesn't exist). I remember walking through the factory at the '05 Open House and seeing a few necks with the compensated nut starting to make their way through production.
