I seem to be drifting towards building a small collection of JP's here in the UK.

This might be asking a lot but what would be really useful would be a sort of timeline/history of the model including details on all of the colours and what periods they were available for.

Rough numbers of how many were produced in each discontinued colour would also be great to know if anyone has this information.

I've had a bit of a search and bits and bobs of info seem to be available here and there but not the whole caboodle in one place.

Anyway if anyone can help with this I'd be really grateful.

Hopefully lots of people would find this interesting, as this model certainly seems to have come in a lot of different colours.

Cheers all!:D

Well that's a good start, and what a jolly fine looking axe you have there too!

Welcome to the thread Paul! I am particularly happy to see a reply from you because I have a feeling that you might potentially be one of the better informed folk on this particular subject, bearing in mind your close links with Mr P.

So what do you think? Have you got any more info to help me out with this little project?:D

Bungo, I know *some* things about the guitars, but I don't think I'm half as informed as many of the guys on the forum here. The community here as a whole will be better able to narrow down some answers for any questions you might have. But I don't think production numbers are ever released - I have no idea. I bet Ernie would be a wealth of info though. If you haven't seen his JP collection, it's worth checking out. :) Pete would probably also know a fair amount about when certain colors were available. I'd be happy to answer anything I know for sure, of course.

A while back, I was interested in similar info re the Albert Lee model.
It's not the policy of EBMM to release this info so I don't hold out much chance of you getting it.

Thanks Paul. I've seen several pics of ernie's collection. Those pics are definitely one of the motivators for me to start trying to get a few JPs together this side of the pond.

It's a shame if production numbers aren't released as clearly this helps to evaluate the rarity value when certain guitars show up on ebay. We do seem to know numbers on some low run items (EVH Gold top, Mr Horsepower etc), so I was hoping these numbers might also be available for other models as well.

I think I'll start to put something together myself and see if I can get a few more of the currently thread-shy folk here joining in that way!

Thanks again:D

I know when they first came out in '01 they were available in these colors:

Black, White, Mystic Dream, Pearl Red burst, Pearl Blue,
Las Vegas Gold, Gunsmoke, Candy Red, Black Sparkle, White Sparkle,
Autumn Red, Blue Dawn, Burnt Apple, Autumn Red Rise

All sparkle colors are discontinued and so is Gunsmoke and Las Vegas Gold.

Thanks for that. I think I'm going to throw all these in a spreadsheet to try to get my head round all the colours and dates etc

PS I just emailled you.

Cheers!:D
