First off, I don't mean this in a negative way, it's just an observation. But doesn't it seem like the Petrucci's are the main topic of discussion lately? Every other thread is about a JP. I guess I'm really missing out, but I don't play metal and I really don't care for floating trems.

Haivng owned the Petrucci for about a week now, I can say it's a far more versatile guitar than many make it out to be. The trem is one of the best I've used, it has most of the functionality of a Floyd but is stiff enough to allow double stop bends for blues, etc. Perhaps a Petrucci fever is running loose? :D

I agree, I don't play metal (well anymore), I use it for a mix of blues/rock/fushion like tunage, with a punchy, crispy tone...this guitar has it all...and the trem, I can go on for days, I LOVE it...cat purrrrrrs baby!!!
Fever yes, the IBZ guys over at sevenstring.org are also catching the fever :D

I'd go a bit further and omit the "dollar for dollar" qualifer. I think EBMM makes the best guitars period, regardless of price.

What OC is saying is simply this....dudes got rid of their other axes and bought a EBMM. Went from a zero (other brands) to hero (EBMM).

JP's have been the topic here lately. Simply awesome guitars. The other models are just as awesome. You don't have to play "metal" to play a JP. That is a ridiculous statement.

Which ever model you have.....enjoy it. They are the best.

Yes, when the new Morse hits the streets, that will be the subject of convos for a while....until the new JP hits the streets.......things are really exciting around here that is for sure.

Yes we can all agree that EBMM's are the best...the REASON I chose a Pet was simple, 7 strings...if the Silo, Axis or SUB came in a 7 string version, then I would have either one of them...that's why I chose a Pet :D

I've heard then do metal/rock/blues. Very nice!

How well do they play for clean sounds? (not piezo)

I put a push/pull on my volume knob and split the coils. It gets some great SC sounds, and if you want the same sound as the JP w/o the coils split in the middle position, you just go to the middle but have to pull up the volume knob. So, in essence, you gain three PU configs, 2 SC and one mixed hum. Gave me more variety of clean sounds, which I liked.

Wow. it appears some of you took offense to my post...notice Raz I said JP forum KIDS. Read the tech forum and you'll see what I mean...

There's also a lot of JP talk around EVERYWHERE since DT dropped the new album and are touring, and JP's solo record dropped prior to Octavarium....releasing albums is a pretty good source of publicity especially in light of the fact that we are on the Ernie Ball MusicMan Forum and said party does have a signature model...hahaha.

rock on gents!

It would make sense that JP's are the talk of the 'boards.... esp. if they are indeed the top selling 6'er for EBMM right now. (Which was the subject of speculation in another thread.)

I love my JP6 and I actually play clean 75% of the time or more. Generally, if I'm using distortion I'm playing a solo.. I so seldom use 'crunch' these days.
