They are pretty close to the same pickup. If you contact DiMarzio they can probably tell you what differences there are. Pole pieces, number of windings, etc.
It means buy an Air Norton and just throw it in there
The pole pieces on the JP are hex heads, and on the shelf Air Norton one bobbin has flathead screw polepieces, while the other bobbin has polepieces that are machined flat.
I find the D-sonic too muddy and would like to switch it out. I know JP didn't care for it but I ould love to hear EMGs in here.like BP's JP proto. I might just try the Steves Special....not sure yet.
