JP vs Axis

How is the Luke neck profile compared to the Axis? I know it has a 'V' shape but its been a long time since I have played one!

I own 2 L3's and used to own several axis and the L3 V and the L2 is a very subtle V shape. IMO the Axis neck and Luke neck feel similar with the Axis neck being a little fuller.

I have been looking at the Y2D and it seems like an awesome axe, however looking at sellers who weight the guitars they seem a little too heavy for my puny bad back. I can handle 7 to 7.5lbs, but the Y2D's seem in the 8+ lbs range. How heavy are yours?

I must confess that I really like the Morse, though!

I really love the tones I can get from my Morse. But, it is a quite bit heavier than any Axis I've ever owned.

If you love the location of the volume knob on your Axis, and you are not easily adaptable, the volume knob location on the Morse may feel a little wrong. You should play a y2d for a while while doing some palm muting to see if the location bothers you.

Get yourself a one of a kind, literally, and get a PDN. Drum City/GL looks like they still has a large PDN inventory.......my PDN ASS is AWESOME,.......tone for days, love the roasted neck and SS frets, color is stunning, I really want another PDN model.

Tim, I am with the others - the Axis and the JP are quite different and it does take some adjustment, not only in the neck shape, width and depth, but 24 frets vs 22 frets. Sounds silly, but it throws you out of automatic mode (I played my L3 and JP6 last night...)

If you are looking for something to compliment your Axis' without feeling foreign, then indeed a Luke or Silo Special might fit the bill more so than a JP.

After everyone's comments, I am leaning towards the AL HH or another Axis. However, I would like to try a Luke! I think a GC visit is in my future at some point.

No love the Silhouette?! The neck is not unlike the Axis, and it sounds much different. I'd definitely give that one a try. Although the AL HH and Lukes are fine options as well.

I have had a Silhouette and I found that the pickups are 'not for me'. I really want to find something that I don't have to take to bits and change everything!
