Posted this on the SSO forum- thought maybe someone here might know something 'bout this!
So I was at GC today and had a chance to sit down with a JP-7 and a JP13-7 and kind of side-by-side them.
I have played a JPXI -7 as well so I had that as a frame of reference too.
I played the standard 7 first and just loved it. It was totally killer in every way, low action and it sounded amazing (though I prefer the Illuminator set to the CL/LF). I even dropped the low string down to A and it was in tune and playing great without even having to really mess with the other strings - I was impressed.
Then I picked up dat 13.
Now last time I played that exact one at that exact GC they had a JPXI and the JP which I compared it to. But both those two guitars had old-ass strings and were playing like crap which I knew was cause of the strings- so I couldn't get a good comparison.
Today all of the strings were in good shape and after playing the JP7 I noticed that the 13's strings were set really high. It wasn't GC's fault either because I sort of noticed it before but couldn't put my finger on it cause my comparison models were all in poor repair xD
Does anyone know if EBMM intended for the 13's action to be higher than the other JP's? When I played the XI the action was nice and low like the standard 7... no JP I've played has had that weird high action except the 13. I would actually call it a bit uncomfortable really...
I would normally write it off as an odd unit but I remember Decreebass mentioning something about his 13 having higher action than he is used to.
So yeah anyone have some data on this?
