This question might seem ridiculous to the purists on here....but I was wondering if a Seymour Duncan Distortion would work with the electronics in the JP13.

I've used Duncan Distortions with hot rodded Vintage Marshalls forever....but when I craved and then finally purchased a JP13, the Mesa Boogie (specifically the Mark V) proved to work well with the Illuminators. I don't believe in altering expensive guitars....and the JP13 and the Mark V work so well together.....but for kicks I plugged in my old FrankenStrat (Duncan Distortion) into the modded "Marshall type" amp.....it just sounded so much better.

I fall into the "tone chasing" game all the time. I am totally happy with the MM/Boogie rig but the MM does not work well with "Marshall" amp.

So, will a Duncan Distortion work in a JP13? Will the JP have the same versatility (coil tap, etc)? Does the wiring on the Duncan and the MM gel?

I'm just weighing some options.

Thank you in advance! Go easy on me lol

The wiring is a little different. DiMarzio use one set of colors and Seymour Duncan use the same colors but in a different order so you'll have to 'translate' but otherwise yes the duncan Distorion it is completely compatible, with coil tap and all that jazz. In the bridge position of a MM guitars the f-spaced version is most appropriate, which is what Duncan calls trembucker, so that will be the TB-6 pickup that you want.
