Quick question - I've got the Axis, I've got G.A.S. for the JP15. How similar or different are they tone wise?

I love my Axis but I never really took to the JP guitars, they do sound fairly different as the pups are different in each guitar but why would you want 2 guitars that sound the same. To me the neck was the issue on JP and the fact it has 24 frets we I don't need.

Interesting Jamie - there are a few reasons I'm interested in the JP15. One is the look of it just speaks to me. The second is the nut width is 43.0 mm vs. the 41.3 on my Axis S.S. It should be a bit easier for me to play. Third is it looks like the end all be all guitar for me - it has every option one would want in a guitar.

Don't let me put you off, the JP is a very popular guitar and as you say it is a great looking guitar. It just wasn't for me but I think the JPs are EBMM best selling range which says it all.

I can't speak to the comparison between a JP15 and an Axis, but as a JP15 owner myself, I can only say good things about this guitar. Plays like a gem and she's easy on the eyes, to boot!

I have the Jp 15 as well. Not only does it play beautifully, but it's a beautiful guitar. The acoustic pickup sounds amazing too. You can't have to many guitars. Get it.

I have both the Axis and a JP15. I have played EVH/Wolfgang/Axis guitars for well over 15 years now. I love the oil/wax on the Axis and the neck profile. I thought that would be the only guitar I would ever want or need. Until the JP15. Yes the neck profile is different, but the feel of the neck is what I love, so I got over the profile issue (it was all in my head), and found that the JP profile is even more comfortable for me. I also love the contours of the body on the JP15 especially at the forearm, far more comfortable for extend playing. I like the illuminator pickups in the JP as well. I can't say anything of the past pickups in the JP series, because I haven't really spent any time with other models, but the illuminators fit nicely in my amp/pedal setup. They are both beautiful guitars, and I do love both styles. But as I type this, the JP15 is beside me, while both my Axis guitars are comfortably in their cases in the closet. Not to worry though, they come out on occasion.

As for pictures, here is my Blue Axis and My JP15 Blueberry...

Joebarr beautiful guitars! Currently trying to decide between an Axis and jp15. They are both great but very different in sound, specs and price! Not sure which to get. The jp radius at 17 is way flatter than the Axis at 10. Did you find that to be weird feeling?
