hey all.

the summer fun/run is over. "Return to the Forbidden Planet" the stage play is now in the books. The combination of my 07LE and RR Al was a smash. The AL just rules on the 60's soundtrack. When I needed to get vicious, the JP6 anhiliated everything in its path.

It was alot of fun.

Live Long and Prosper.....

awesome! I'm a music theatre junkie - all of my playing is done in orchestra pits, no pub gigs for me.

Return to the Forbidden Planet is one of my all time favourite shows - I saw it professionally back in about 1992 while still at school and have been waiting for a decent amatuer company to stage it ever since.. Sadly, only a few smaller crap companies have done it so i'm still waiting.

Great stuff!!!

Cool! That last pose of yours reminds me of Spinal Tap for some reason. Ha HA!

I'm a musical theatre junkie too. We went with a small combo for this show as opposed to a 7 piece. The AL just shined in all the single coil work. Very 50's/60's sounding. I use a GNX4 into 2 EV SXA250 full range wedges that we're hidden and could not have been happier. My last 4 shows were: Hair, JCSuperstar, Rocky Horror PS and RTT forbidden planet.
yes, 2 transmitters. I like to wear them on the strap, but needed to switch guitars so wore them on the belt.
The JP6 and AL are such perfect compliments. Both piezos and what one can't do, certainly the other can

Great stuff Danny, looks like a lot of fun. I'll join in on the theater junkie stuff as well. Although I'm currently a banker, my degree is in tech theater and I've spent the last 20 years designing lights for one or two shows a year at a local community theater just to keep my sanity. Those last four productions you were part of were probably a gas to put on.

And one other thing..........AL's rule :D

hehe same.. during the day i work in I.T... by night, play in pits... i play for about 10 - 12 shows per year. But i'm also a lighting designer.. the shows I design are for one of the larger community theatre groups (show budgets in excess of AU$100K), so i only do one every couple of years these days. Sometimes I might program/plot the show for someone else (as one of the big designers down here isn't very proficient running intelligent fixtures from a Strand)... but mostly I just play in the pit now, far easier!!
The last one I designed LX for was the Wizard of Oz, which was fantastic. Had a huge rig of intelligent lights (including 24 HES ColorCommands which really rock for theatre). We had two flying rigs to fly the two witches (up/down and across stage). Was a really magical show and looked amazing, but it's such a hard show to stage. I had about 40 cues in the twister scene alone LOL. There were about a dozen fly cues at the same time. Was a calling nightmare for the SM. But yeah, took up a good chunk of my life for 6 months, so not something I can do much of these days.

I just finished playing for JC Superstar, High School Musical and currently doing The Full Monty... as soon as that finishes I start Hot Shoe Shuffle, and then Little Shop of Horrors after that. That takes me to the end of October, and then after that... NOTHING! woohoo! until late december and into a big production of Grease.. for the fourth time lol !

Ah no rest for the wicked ;-)
