Hello EBMM Forumites,
All the way from Delta British Columbia Canada, I present you with steps and pictures to rewire the stock JP6 split coils
to full HH in the middle position. Thanks to the thread below and Beej for providing the wiring details:
http://forums.ernieball.com/music-m...sition-coil-split-john-petrucci-7-loaded.html
In summary, this modification was the way to go for me. The stock split single coil sound is fantastic; however, with my
blues-rock playing the full HH in the middle position works out better. Of course you can install the pull/push volume
control and get the full HH or the split singles.
1. Starting shot, including incoming Slinky 10s (no RPS10s at the store and the Cobalts are not in yet)
2. Open up
3. Stock wiring
4. Protect your guitar and prevent solder drops
5. Bridge = solder Green to the Red; Neck = solder White to the Black
6. Clean flux with cold water on rag, dry, then tape to prevent contact
7. Parting shot with the new Slinkys...very nice sounding strings by the way!!
Thanks again Beej and others from the mentioned thread who provided the technical insight.
My JP6 feels like a new guitar with the HH setup and new Slinkys. Even though I'd enjoy a new Dark Lord Morse like
richb!!
Cheers, C.
