so I bought a Luke III untested when they were first announced, loved the look, 6 month later it arrived and right away I could tell it just wasn't for me both sound wise and feel, I'm very partial to the standard JP6, but looking for a slightly different more open uncompressed sound. So after some research I decided to order some new pickups for my Olive Gold JP6...what a perfect opportunity to have the best of both worlds, the look of the Luke III and the feel and playability of a JP6...works for me..

Pickups are AT-1 bridge, 36th Anniversary PAF neck...both F-spaced.

Damn, that JP looks great in disguise. Good move! How do those pickups sound?

the 36th sound fantastic, very vintage LP, but on the hot side, also..it's a lot closer to the strings than the bridge due to the leads behind it. The AT-1 is an amazing sounding pickup, I had it in a Dargie II Silo I had at one time, but it needs to be raised in this case, it's a little anemic sounding wihtout a lot of gain. I think it will sound amazing with some spacers in there (tonights project). will let you know :) love the look though :)

That looks great! I want to swap my JP pickups for some low powered PAFs but wasn't sure how the chrome covers would fit.

Love the look of that JP with Chrome covers. Almost makes me want to do that to my JP6 stealth!
