JP6/JP7/JP BFR potential buyer need help

Okay, I've pretty much made up my mind that I want a JP, but I'm just wondering what are the major differences between the JP6/JP7 and the BFR F-1's? Like as in, major differences in tone and/or feel, that would make me like one or the other more?

Biggest differences that come to mind:

1) Finished neck vs. unfinished neck. This is completely subjective as far as feel goes. Some people think finished necks are "stickier".

2) JP6/JP7 are basswood with a maple neck, whereas the F-1 has a maple cap over alder with the "secret" mahogany tone block, which supposedly makes it sound "larger".

Plus, the neck on the BFR is Mahogany as well, and also the arm scoop has been replaced with a simple backwards bend in the body.

In the latest GW mag, Petrucci says something about the upper horn being carved out a little more to make upper fret access even better. By the way in that same G3 article JP tries to get Paul Gilbert to try his guitar because of the bar.

Right, the 3 wood combination of the alder, tone block, and maple cap makes a big difference in the sound. Super beefy.

Only other thing I'd like to say is that not all finished necks are created equal.

Some are "stickier" than others. Nitrocellulose finishes, a la PRS and Gibson, feel different (stickier) than, say, my Caparison TAT, which I'm not exactly sure what it's finished with, but is wicked smooth.

So depending on what the finish is, it might make no difference.

I can imagine an alder body, with a maple cap, tone block, and mahogany neck sounds ridiculously "big" and "sharp". Alder has a nice sharpness to it.

I am really on the fence about getting one of these. It's exactly what I've been looking for in a JP...

Well, the Sub 1 bass neck is finished, and I got to try one out recentley, and was defientley very nice and smooth, so hopefully the JP-F1 will be painted the same way.

Yeah, I've definitely noticed a difference in different types of finished necks.

I'm sure it will be superb.

Also, the F-1 will have a push-pull knob that will allow you to activate all both humbuckers. That will definitely affect tone!

My Sub has a finished neck and it doesn't stick like my Gibson SG did.

On some other sites for guitar builders..Some companies put basically a form of talcum powder in the paint when they shoot the necks ..I prefer natural finishes on necks..I'd strip down my bass ..if you look on my signature..You can figure which one that is..But the bass was given to me by someone whom played that companies basses for 20 years..then switched..and is now kicking himself..otherwise.."I'm doing fine..just me and my wine.."Thank You

Thanks for the all the replies guys, I think im gonna get me one. Damn, they look nice, and I always thought that the JPs could sound a bit beefier. Also, a couple more questions.

1. What finishes are available at the moment? (pics if possible)
2. How much do these puppies run for? (retail price and estimated low point of price.)
3. What are the pickups on it? I know the D Sonic bridge, but is it still the modified Air Norton in the neck?
