Hello,

I am going to be paid very soon now, and have to make a decision which guitar to order lol...

What I have in mind is...

1) JP6, fully loaded, Mystic Dream finish $xxxxx + tax(13%)

2) JPX $xxxxx + $100 + tax(13%)

3)JP6 BFR, Trans Black model which I found on eBay for $2590 + NO tax + free shipping
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...akeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en
(not sure if those white things beside the left horn are damages... the seller told me no damage on the guitar)

What I tried in the store was the JP6 BFR baritone model. (Only JP guitar in the store)
I really liked the guitar itself (I don't play baritone... but a beautiful guitar), but I found that the neck, while a very slim and great feeling, got a little sticky feeling afterwards...(maybe due to playings of previous people)

In terms of price, that BFR on eBay seems to be the best deal, but I am not sure if it is a good idea to just go ahead and get that BFR model.

I am a college student and I can probably afford only one of them for a long time, so I just wanted to ask you if you were in my situation, which one you would choose =)

Thanks a lot for your help!

-Louis, from Canada

Here is a JP BFR in Vancouver: Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci BFR Guitar . I play a JP w/BFR rosewood neck and no piezo because I have a good acoustic as well; awesome guitar and the arm scoop is really comfortable. Long and McQuade Surrey has 1 black JP6 without the piezo and so does the Langley store. Cost is less than the BFR or X and the guitars are really nice. The Langley store also has a Tobacco JP BFR that is on clearance for less than your budget. But it seems like you have the cash so go big and get the X.

I think if you wait around a bit, you can find a BFR for sale for less than 2590. I've seen some go for less than 2200. Granted, that's in the States, so it's a bit of a gamble with customs charges and the like.

Mystic Dream for that much is bit high. You can find them for less than 1800 if you wait around.

Again, it's all patience. You can spend that much money now and be satisfied with the guitar, either way. Or you can really make a bargain somewhere down the line.

I always buy used because I'm too impatient to wait 5 months. Also, slight scratches (if any) don't bother me.

I got JP6 Mystic Dream Piezo at $500 off and credit:p So I can't say which one is the best deal. The one on ebay looks killer though

Guys not to be an armchair mod but new pricing discussion is frowned on, used/ebay tis OK.

Now just buy the one you want most and play it:D

The sticky feel is probably because the fretboard could just use some fretboard conditioner, no worries there. Having played all 3 models (and owning 2 BFRs and previously a standard) I would go with the BFR. The arm scoop of the original JP is not as comfortable to me as the BFR and the tone on the BFRs is better in my opinion than the standard (not to say the standard doesn't sound good though). Sorry to plug my own For Sale thread, but I am selling my JP6 Bahama Burst in order to fund a JP7 BFR. Let me know if you're interested! (PM me). :D

I dont know but I saw that BFR one on ebay and it is a wicked looking ax. I would try to decide fast if that was the one you were leaning towards as I doubt it is going to last much longer.

I dont know if those are used or dealer prices but one of our rules here is that we can only post MRSP and used prices.

if those prices were for used guitars i appologize and feel free to put them back
