Hi,

I've noticed that the sustain on my recently purchased JP6(non BFR)-model has a huge drop when playing the high e-string. The sound of the string is also a bit "sitar like", it sounds like the string causes something else to swing inside the guitar. I've already checked the tremolo springs without any improvement. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like it's too low, contacting one of the frets.

If it happens on the lower frets, odds are your neck needs more relief. Upper frets, you need to raise the saddle height. But it's all a tradeoff.

The customer service guys can help you out if you drop them a line. There are also a few good videos here on setting up your axe, if it's not something you've done before.
