Hi MM mates

My issue got so bad that I had to ask about it here :/

I've got 3 JP and they are IMO the best guitars in the world, to my hands, ears and heart.

I have a full loaded mystic dream that I bought near mint, there was just a crack in the varnish between the neck and the pickup.

Today the paint is cracked on each side of the neck, to the rear of the body and one of these "scars" is approching the piezzo settings !

When I look at these, I just feel like crying, cause I take care of my guitars, they are away from extreme temperatures and humidity.

The two others are still mint, but this one is so cracked I feel like she is dying (I know that's only body's paint...but it's awful)

What can I do ? I love the mystic dream color

There's really nothing you can do with finish cracks, especially on something with a paint colour like MD.

If you're concerned, I would could email the customer service folks and see if they have a suggestion for you. Send them a picture, give them all the info you can.

Remember ... all the great guitars have battle scars :)

I am just curious to how long you have the guitar and how long it took for all this to happen. My thinking is that since it was between pups, if you have been gigging the guitar a lot you would of had a lot of sweat getting in their and the moisture is what caused it to spread. You should of sealed the original crack the minute you got it.Seriously I know it is a bummer, but unless you want to shell out for a refin stick a few cool decals on it or leave it and play the hell out of it.

I can tell :
-I got it around 2003, second hand, I don't remember if the crack was already starting :/ Guess so
-My study guitar is the blue dawn one, I played on the mystic dream for rehersals and two gigs

I can't agree since I got the two JP6 at the same time, the blue one travelled and received sweat far more than the one exploding :(

I understood there is nothing I can do, except waiting for the paint to be so dead, that I have to repaint it another color...
I'll post pictures asap

Cheers

If it were mine....I would take it to an artist and have him or her paint Stitches across the cracks. Just an observation and I could be wrong. The poly coat on these guitars are probably 2mm thick or around there. I have seen people grab the neck of a Guitar with one hand and lift the guitar so it's practically parallel with the ground and the pressure that must cause to the neck pocket and surround area. If my guitar is on a stand with a strap. I'll pick it up by the neck and strap near the button on the treble side. No pressure and none of my guitars have neck pocket cracks.

I'm not sure to understand perfectly your idea, but it's my feeling too, that the cracks are neck related since they start there :/

Besides the tiny crack on the front, I only see the ones on the back. I gotta say.....who cares what the back looks like? Just accept it and let it go.

Well, I agree for the rear, but the crack is linking behind the neck and ends at the pickup.
I don't want to know where it can become worse :(
