Hi, I have a JP6.

It's nut started to buzz on the D string, so I had it replaces, and the new nut didn't last a month before it started buzzing again.

So I stuck a little but of paper under the nut, and buzz goes, but tuning stability is not there.

Is there an nut made of alternate material with the compensated intonation stuff?

I don't mind if its not some kind of 'graphite' like substance, if I could get a longer lasting nut I'd use nut sauce.

I don't think they make the compensated nuts in anything else BUT there is no harm in using a regular nut either. I have never noticed much of a difference between the older EBMM guitars with the standard nuts and the new ones. I am sure they improve intonation a bit but you can easily cover that small difference with a saddle adjustment. I have changed a fewer of the newer nuts out for a standard bone one and the tech never mentioned having any issues.

A compensated nut is not in the same position relative to the frets that regular nut is, so using a regular nut in place of a compensated nut may result in problems with intonation and tuning.

EBMM nuts are made from a very sturdy material. It does not wear out that fast.

Who installed the new nut? A good guitar tech or lutheir can fix this for you.

Really good guitar guy & amp guy, and I tend to agree about the compensation.

I got him to re-fret it with bigger frets, and of course the new nut, which lasted about 2-3 months before the D string wore the same way as the original one (which lasted approx 3-4 years without a problem).

I have another JP6 nut, so at some point ill get it back on the repair shop queue, just figured I'd explore nut options 1st.

Also, considering some pickup changes.. so researching that too.
