I browse this forum from time to time and you guys seem to know a lot about guitar repair. So I thought I'd explain my problem here.

I've had my JP6 for about 7 months and a few months ago I noticed that when I slide into a particular note, the 10th fret on the b string, there is buzzing and it sort of "notes out." And when I bend that note it also buzzes then fades into higher pitches than it should as if I were adding harmonics. It's hard to hear it with a clean tone, however, when you add a decent amount of distortion it is definitely noticeable. It also does this on the 9th fret on the b string, but not as much.

So I finally got around to taking it up to my local music shop and I talked to a guy there and showed him what my problem was. He told that what I am hearing is harmonic overtones and that it is just how this particular guitar sounds. He said there isn't any adjustment that he can make to fix it.

Is he right about this being harmonic overtones or is this some sort of fret crowning problem?

Sounds like it may be a low fret. My JP does that at the 14th fret on the high e. I bought it used, so for now im living with it. I have raised the action slightly above what i would prefer to get rid of it. Sometimes a slight truss rod adjustment can fix that kind of problem also.
