Hello!

I was wondering how often do you do slight trussrod adjustments to compensate for climate/humidity changes? I have the unfinished (non-BFR) JP6 neck. Contrary to my expectations I don't see any drastic changes compared to my finished/painted necks.

Thanks

Hello

I have no systematic frequency for adjusting my truss rod. If I feel that the neck needs an adjustment, I just do it. It's so easy with the MM system. Most of the time a quarter of a turn is enough.

Funny you should mention this since I just had to do it Friday. I was on tour for the last 7 weeks (with my Ibanez; left my BFR at home) and when I got home this past week all my strings were badly buzzing on the fretboard and the neck had to be adjusted.
I NEVER had to do it on my reg. JP7 (had it for a full year) or any other guitar I can remember- neck-thru or bolt-on.
My J. Custom Ibanez went through so many climate, humidity and altitude changes over the last month and a half, but I had no neck issues.
Kinda sucks this one is becoming more maintenance + high price tag.

What's the big deal? Just adjust and go. I've had to adjust a few of mine during the time that I've had them, but with no regular frequency. When I get them the way I like them, I just measure the string height at the 12th fret and write it down. Then when and adjustment is needed, I get out the allen wrench, give it an 8th of a turn or so, and I'm good to go. Takes 30 seconds. I love the fact that I don't have to remove a stupid truss rod cover like on my Gibson, PRS or Ibanez.

Sudden climate changes will make necks move. I mentioned in another thread that I had stopped in at a GC last week. Humidity was really high all of a sudden for a day. Every single guitar I picked up was buzzing strings, including both a Luke and Al HH that I had played before in that store that had perfect setups before. I just adjusted my ASS. Didn't take much, but needed that little touch.

I've never had to adjust the truss rod of my JP, but I want to set up my Sub1 for lower action. This is such a noob question haha, but do you need to loosen the strings before you adjust the truss rod?

Nope adjust away:)

As for the main question no set schedule just only when needed, have rarely had to adjust it on any of my EBMM's I have owned.

If I notice they need a little tweak, I just do it. I tweaked my BFR a little a couple weeks ago as the weather was getting wetter. Easy as anything. The truss rod system on the MM guitars is really terrific.
