Hi guys,

I have a Pet 6 string, with piezo, inlays, matching hs (butter cream limited).
I'm absolutely in love with her... took a few months to get accustomed to the neck, trem, etc, but now I can't stop playing it :)
But, the reason I'm writing is I have an annoying issue... if I release the strings, and don't touch any metal part on the guitar, it makes HUGE noise. I have 2 other guitars, different brand, they don't do it. They do collect some static noise, but neglectible to my Pet's excessive levels :( It becomes more apparent when playing at live volumes: it goes into bad feedback and screams almost instantly as the strings are released. I believe this is not normal.
So what could I do? I'm guessing this is sort of a grounding problem... but where to start? Oh, I live in Hungary, so probably no chances for sending it to the factory. (crazy shipping prices)

Thanks much

i reckon that its your trem springs
stuff some cotton wool inside them
or put some paper towel

the springs can vibrate after you mute the strings and create this feedback
i had the same problem with my jp6
i stuffed them full of cotton
and now i have no worries

does it go away when u are touching the strings ?????

Yes, entirely. That's normal for electric guitars... the problem is it makes a huge amount of noise when I _don't_ touch the strings, much more than any guitar I've seen/heard so far. I guess this is the reason it goes squealing so easily when playing loud.

do you find that after you play a chord and then mute it
you get a ringing that will translate into feedback if you are running through your distortion channel?
or is it just the electronic hum?

my jp6 electronically hums
mainly on the neck pickup
have you considered a noise supressor/gate?

Ah thanks, but I don't think that is the problem... it's not that reverb-like noise that the trem springs would produce.

the fact that it all goes away when you touch the strings ...........my guess is everything is normal. that's what should happen.
also.......you have more electronics in that guitar than your other guitars...so there is more components to make noise when ungrounded.
i would also guess that you are using a ton of overdrive on the settings you are having issues with. that....along w/ lots of volume can quickley become difficult to harness.......

I do use high gain, but nothing extreme though - less gain works better when playing as loud as required to be heard along drums.
My other axe has evo's in it, hotter than the Pet's pickups and is still much easier to keep silent when needed... but I'll have to live with it then.
As probably nothing's technically wrong with the guitar, I'm a bit calmed down, thanks for that, I appreciate your helpfulness.

i have the exact same issue with my Pet. It simply creates more hum than my other guitars, when not touching the metal parts. I guess it's no biggy.

Sounds like a grounding problem to me maybe?
