thank you so much! also, while the strings are off, is the bridge suspose to be all the way back. When i restring it, will it become back to normal?

Depending on the production date of the guitar (and previous owner if it was used), it may have been set up for 9's as well. You will know by the angle of the bridge after you have put on the strings if it is right or not. It's a simply adjustment either way.

great, do you know how to put new strings on it when all of the strings are already off?

I would put all the strings on at the same time (starting with the low E) pulling each through the tuners with as little slack as possible before locking down each tuner. Don't tighten the locks too tightly...only enough so that the string doesn't slip. As you are putting the strings through, push down on the trem so that it is level/parallel with the body. This will help ensure that you are getting some tension on the strings and get you in the ballpark a lot quicker. Don't cut the ends of the strings until you have it tuned though in case you need to slacken the strings any. Hopefully you won't.

it's super easy. Just string it up and tune it. I have taken all the strings off my JP's numerous times and it is no big deal. This aint no floyd.

A good trick and a quick tuning on a floating bridge when all the strings are off is to block the trem with something to keep It flush with the body as if It was tuned. You can use a wood block or whatever will keep It from receding into the cavity.

Yeah using EB Polish cloth or something under the trem works. I don't generally take all the strings off though...only when I really want to give the fretboard a cleaning.

I have never had an issue on any of the 4 JP's I have owned when taking off all the strings with the bridge returning the proper position. Any time I've needed to clean the board I just take the strings off, clean it, restring and tune back up. Bridge always ends up sitting perfectly.
