JP6 Trem question

For the life of me, I can't find much info on the different trem models on the JP6. I have a 2004 with a rectangular trem, but have read that this switch wasn't made until 2011. I also have a 2011 (loaded) JP6 with a non-rectangular trem.

Please set me right.

Hey there =)

Do you mean the tremolo arm or the bridge?

If you are referring to the bridge, all models, except for the Majesties and the JPXVI, come with the standard EBMM Custom JP Full-FLoating Bridge.

Did you put the Serial in the Serialnumber Thread?
The JP Trem changed from the Cutout Baseplate to a Rectangular Baseplate around 2011/12 or so.
I doubt the 2004 JP has the Rectangular Tremplate, maybe someone swapped the Neck and/or the Neckplate.
Does the "2004" JP have Stainless Steel Frets? That's another indicator since they started using SS Frets around the same time

The rectangular trem has a different mounting post spacing, so if you have a 2004 with that trem, there must be a hole (perhaps plugged and finished) from the old trem.

Post the serial numbers and even ask them for more info here...

Thanks for the info. I did run the serial, and was surprised to get the 2004 reply. All of the info (color, features) checks out.
I'll look for filled holes and double check that I put the number in correctly. I bought it used and I must say that if it is a 2004, its damn near mint.
Is there an obvious visual difference in SS frets?

For the sake of argument, if there was a typo in the answer-and it's actually a 2014, then the neckplate doesn't make sense and the pickups are all wrong. I think the neck p/u has been swapped anyhow. The poles look more like a Seymour than Dimarzio.
The bridge pickup looks like the Steves Special.

I haven't taken anything apart because I just put new strings on it and adjusted the action to perfection.

Several DiMarzio models share the same looks as your current JP neck pickup. There should be a code underneath the pickups, sth like DPxxx.

A 2014 model would normally come with the CrunchLab/LiquiFire set.

Interesting.

The routing on the top of the body would have matched the trem too. Suggests either 1) that is not a 2004 body, or, 2) that's a 2004 body that was plugged, drilled, routed, and refinished.

Contact Customer Service directly (see links in my sig below) and ask them about it. Perhaps the original body was factory replaced after the switch to the new trem?

The mystery is solved EBMM customer service confirmed that the build date is Nov 2011-just as the change to the rectangular trem was starting.

The 2004 answer received here on the forum was a typographical error.

Still doesn't explain those pickups.. but I can live with it.
If they were swapped out, the person did a very clean soldering job.
