Hi everyone,

I have been reading around but couldnt find a comparison of these two..I am in the market for a JP and have been doing a lot of reading lately, I really love how the ruby bust top looks on the BFR JP6, but I prefer the body JP6 standard body, with the scoop..I love that scoop..anyways, I found out that there were very few JP6 with a, hear this, an ebony fretboard..on a ruby burst (not quilted of course)..
I would definitely go for the BFR ruby burst, in any case, if it were not for the fact that it DOESNT come with ebony fretboard, and for me, ebony rules (and I have already 2 guitars with rosewood fingerboard)..for me the look, feel and tone of the ebony beats rosewood.
Anyways, that JP6 with ebony fretboard is a rare find, which also makes it atractive...

Oh decisions...why doesnt the JP6 BFR Ruby burst come with ebony fretboard? :(

Ok, any thoughts and ideas, reflections or comments, are welcome, my heart is divided here..thanks!

Oh, I forgot to mention that the JP6, ruby burst, with ebony fretboard was a limited thing, only 25 were sold officially in Europe (I live here), so scarcity is a value added to that one...I do not think they made them again after that run:)

Bfr only come with a rosewood fingerboard except for the Koa version. If you want something red with an ebony fingerboard get a JP12.

yes, charcoal grey vs black

JP stealth package has ebony fretboard with scoop.

Thanks, true, had forgotten about the Stealth JPs, some weeks ago I was looking at the Charcoal Grey and the black stealth, the both look great. I see you have (at least your avatar) a..BFR ruby burst isnt it? Any comments on the body? Is a bit larger than the standard jp6.

Same here... to me, that's enough reason to go JP6 standard. Best EBMM JP model ever.

Yeah, and I dont know why they dont have any BFRs with the JP6 body..pure awesomeness for me would be a JP6 body, BFR Ruby (or solar burst) with ebony fretboard..Im repeating myself methinks.hehhe

My profile pic is walnut burst - now discontinued for quite some time.

The body is slightly different but still feels like a JP.

what you looking at is a Pearl RedBurst limited edition...i have one and i love it!!!

to me the ebony board gives the JP an extra kick of attack - i like it a lot! this does not mean, that the regular JPs doesn't sound good, but the ebony makes it a killer guitar!

here are mine, dargie delight II(ebony as well!) and the PRB limited side by side with the regular mystic dream and my EVH

If the color doesn't matter that much I am sure you could still find a JP-6 from the Roasted Maple/Black Sugar finish run as they had Ebony boards and the roasted necks are just awesome!

Well, that Pearl Redburst is exactly the one that I found here in Europe (from the photo i thought it was a ruby burts..but anyways, its exactly this one you are showing here), as I was precisely searching and trying to find out if the JP6 standard came in ebony and voila, I found it, I also know that is a rare find. I had insomnia yesterday trying to decide if to go for a ruby burst BFR (which would be 700EUR more) and which DOESNT come with ebony fretboard, or just go for that rare jp6 pearl redburst, which they are selling at around 1900USD (in Europe, american guitars are always more expensive..).
If its not too much to ask, could you post more pictures of that pearl redburst? Also, if you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay for it..new or used? The one Im looking at is used, but it is in excellent condition.

If you would have the choice, would you go for the BFR ruby burst with rosewood fb, or the one that you have, the rare jp6 pearl burst, black hardware, with ebony?

And yeah, totally, ebony kicks ass, sounds great, and has that killer look :)

Thanks everyone!

yes, that's one of 25 limited guitars.

i have seen this guitar as well a few days ago. think it was on ebay or so....

i got mine new a few years back...don't want to post the price, because i got a very very special deal on it.
depending on the connections to the local dealer and the MM distributer over here in germany. and the fact, i bought two EBMMs within a few month...

but 1900.- for a good condition limited and very rare guitar is fine for me. if i had the money left, i would jump on it. ;)

a ruby redburst BFR is looking killer, i totally like the color, but for me the regualr JP body is just perfect in size and ergonomic, only the new Majesty is better, but the BFRs, X, XI XII and so on all have that larger body which i don't prefer that much.
have had a BFR and X in the past and always go back to the original.
as far as the sound i must admit, the BFR is awesome, but as written before, the regualr JP with the extra bite of the ebony is killer as well!

hey Joe,

So I got in touch with the seller, and he has informed me that the pearl red burst jp6 w/ ebony fretboard does not come with any paperwork and that he got it used from ebay..being that u are here in Europe as well, do you think at 1250 pounds it is still a good price? I have one day to decide and still Im hesitating...also because im going to the US next month and could buy something in US...decisions decision:(.
