Hi Im new to this forum, and I have a couple questions. Thanks in advance for answering them.

For the first time today, I tried running my JP guitar though two mono cables, one into my amp, and another into the PA. Prior to this, I hadn't used the piezo enough to worry about running to signals. However, I found that when I had both cables plugged in, the signal going to my amp became very noisy, with a loud buzzing(even louder on dirty channels) only when I had both cables plugged in. Im wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem. I am trying to keep my rig noise free, and this is definately not working out. The amp makes noise whether or not I have the Piezo activated or not, but the Piezo doesnt make any noise at all. I was surprised at this, because I figured being such a high quality guitar, it shouldnt be making any noise like that. Another questions: Can this noise be avoided by getting the EB Splitter Box? Where can I find an EB Splitter Box? Thank you

Jeff

if you use two cables, use a passive DI-Box for the piezo signal to the PA.
this is a ground problem. so push the groundlift button on the DI and everything is quite again.

the splitterbox is only if you use a stereo cable comming from the guitar to splitt the siganls again.

Ill definately try it out, although I have a question. Why would the grounding issue on a DI box be a problem for a singal going to my amp? As far as I know it is supposed to be 2 completly different signals. Also, could you reccomend a DI Box? Is it worth spending money on a nice one compared to a cheaper one? Whats the main differences? Thanks again

Jeff, the noise you are most likely hearing is a grounding issue. Most Di's have a switch that allow you to go from ground and off. That's what was being referred too. Boss make one that's OK, even Behringer make one that's OK. Of course you've checked for loose wires, flat battery (if the JP has one?) etc

I am having the same issue. Thank you all of you guys for clarifying!!

Another question: would an active DI Box eliminate the hum?

it need not to be an active DI Box, also a passive can kill the hum by lifting ground. like it was in my setup.

Great!! Thank you very much Joe!!

Do you think this one would do the job?

I got my DI box in about a month ago and I haven't had a chance to hook it up (To busy posting on the forum and all). I'll try it tonight though

Bruce,

I have the IMP 2 direct box, and it will work fine with the piezo. I use it with mine. It does have a ground lift switch, and I usually do have to lift the ground to avoid hum when running the piezo through the PA system while my mags go thru my rig.

Good to hear that!

I can easily find the Whirlwind IMP 2 where I live. I´ll probably buy that this weekend!

Thank you Steve!!

You are quite welcome, Bruce. I'm sure you'll have success with it. :)
