Currently, I can just about slide my black jazz III pick under the low E and the 12th fret and the string just about barley touches the pick. I would like to see the action on the upper frets a little more uniformed with the lower frets.

I can't seem to straighten the neck anymore (else my open D string will buzz out just about dead). The neck is pretty straight as it is. What else can I do to lower it, just lower the saddles on the bridge?

NOTE: This guitar was set up at EBMM about 2 years ago to JPs specs with frets leveled when I first got it.

If I'm understanding you post correctly, you're saying that a pick inserted under the low E at the 12th fret almost touches the string when it's resting on the fret.

If that's the case, I don't thing you're going to get the action any lower on any guitar. If you must try, about the only thing you could do is tilt the neck. If you loosen up the neck, you can insert a shim under the end of the neck where the it butts up against the body. When you tighten down the neck screws, it will tilt the neck backwards slightly, changing the action.

In the situation you describe, this is not something that I would do. It sounds like you action pretty good where it is.

I can take a look at the guitar for ya....

If you'd like to meet here at the store or somewhere down by you, let me know - I've gotten the action low on my EBs - most wind up at about 1mm @ 12th fret.

It's not necessarily a # value, but how it feels when you play it. I prefer very low action, so I do whatever is necessary to get it. Including driving down to Delaware this past weekend and having Tommy show me how to do a fret level on my acoustic!
where'd those wonder wipes come from?!?

Hey Pete. I been meaning to come up and see your shop anyway. Ill try and catch you on AIM and see if we can meet up sometime. THe higher ferts just seem too high to me. Id like less effort to fret those upper frets if I can.
