I have had my JPMM for about 3 years and my D string is buzzing itself dead. I have to raise the saddle quite high to get it to be playable and the action at this point is pretty high. I did read that there were some truss rod problems in the beginning JPMMs. It also gonna cost me a boatload on shipping it to EB from CT......is it easier just to buy a new neck and be done with it?

Not yet. I was going to take it locally first to have someone take a look. I am scared of local music stores for some reason touching my guitar =P. Maybe I should EB first and see what they say.

Shipping to SLO isn't as bad and it certainly doesn't cost a boat load. Have you tried adjusting the truss rod. Shipping to SLO is usually like $40 which doesn't sound like a boatload to me

Yes indeed. You should talk to them first before doing anything drastic.

I am trying to look thru some old threads and see if I can find any tips. If I tighten the truss to get the action where it was its just the one string and the saddle is much higher then it was in the previous set up from EB when I sent it out. I am just assuming its something in the neck.

Dude just call customer service and be done with it instead of wasting your time and Sterling's bandwith with this thread. Especially considering the "truss rod problem with JP Necks" is hearsay. You probably just need a new nut which isn't a big deal, and maybe some fretwork and if that's the case Jon is the guy you want working on your guitar. His work rules!

shipping isn't that expensive dude...
probably under 30 dollars . hell....it takes 70 dollars to fill my gas tank !!! i recently discovered that most staples office supply stores have ups pickup counters in them...& thier rates are excellent !!!
i just shipped a guitar to georgia & one to new england......& they were 21.50 each w/ $1000 insurance.

There is no issue with any JP truss rods. ever

FWIW, my JP is now over 5 years old and the neck, is by far, the most stable I have ever owned (and it's got plenty of birdseye to boot!). Honestly, out of all my guitars, it is the most maintenance free. It requires a slight (about a 1/4 turn) truss adjustment with very severe season changes. And that is it. None of my other guitar neck are even close to that stable. An amazing guitar and neck for sure. Thanks EBMM for making such stellar stuff!

It could be a lot of different things. Nut/saddles/frets/neck relief.
That's what a set up is all about - a tweek here and there.
If you don't know about setting up a guitar, take it to someone who knows and ask them to explain it to you.

Get yourself a pawn shop special and practice set ups on that.
