Wow..I just built 2 Silo basses for John...I mean just built them...But you are wrong about the tuning...It isn't Eb...It's tuned to D sharp :D That Vintage Sunburst is one, and the other was Black Chery Burst.

I have no idea what that pickup is.

I'm just speculating but it may be a DiMarzio Dropsonic or a derivative of it.

Jon, any chance of you having a sneaky peek next time you have one of JPs guitars on your bench? ;)

Jon,

I was told Panic Attack is the Silo Bass tuned down 3 steps to Bb... Did you really make one that was tuned just 1/2 step down? That wouldn't make any sense, he'd just use a regular 6 string like he did for Stream of Conciousness on the last CD. Are you sure you're not thinking of the first track "The Root of All Evil" which is in Eb/D#? The other song with the Silo Bass is These Walls and that one's 3 1/2 steps down to A.

I've always wanted to try out a Silo Bass, and have almost ebay'd one the few times I've seen them there. I've never seen one in person though. Seems all of the EB dealers that are in my part of the country have never ordered one. That's such a shame too, I have a feeling they would sell fairly well.

I think he was picking on me Ryan. D sharp... E flat... lol.

Bb is the most logical (espeically since you were told that. lol) because of the way the riff works in that song.

For those that didn't catch my conversation with Ryan on MP's forum, I had assumed that the Silo was tuned to Eb because the song is in c minor(relative of EB major). Before this I had been saying that it was in Bb correctly in various places because of how that riff worked. But, somewhere in there I forgot that I had discovered the riff thing making the guitar need to be in Bb to play the low notes in the riff. So in that phase I for some reason started posting Eb because of the song key... I even corrected myself incorrectly. lol.

Thanks to Bakerman, here are the album's tunings...

The Root of All Evil: Eb-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb-Eb
The Answer Lies Within: E-A-D-G-B-E
These Walls: A-D-G-C-E-A (Sil. Bass)
I Walk Beside You: D-G-C-F-A-D
Panic Attack: Bb-Eb-Ab-Db-F-Bb (Sil. Bass)
Never Enough: D-G-C-F-A-D
Sacrificed Sons: E-A-D-G-B-E
Octavarium: E-A-D-G-B-E

John has two new tunings Bb and A on the new record and for live purposes hence the new rides Mr Gitarz built...

from what I understand and can ascertain from a few people, that pup looks like a dropSonic but it's not...it's a custom wound job based on the D-Sonic to JP's specs...
