JP's Black Clouds & Silver Linings rig- discussion, pics, etc. - - John Petrucci Forums

There's the link to the thread on the Petrucci forums showing John Petrucci's BFR's and touring rig. Lots of cool one-offs! Just thought I'd post them here to make you guys drool a little bit.

One-offs include:
The Dargie 2
The Silverburst
The Blue Sparkle doubleneck
A Stealth JP7 with Ebony fretboard
And a Cherry Burst BFR

Plus a bunch of regular BFRs.

One thing I don't get - how does he get those Dimarzio Straplocks so short?

I've had a few and they were useless as I wear my guitar pretty high...

Yeah the ebony board on Stealth just makes me drool. I hope when I see them in Philly he uses it. And I hope he uses all the other ones too.

Is it just me or does it look like the Silverburst has a rosewood fretboard? I thought the two that were made have ebony.

Seems he's fully scooping the mids on his EQ these days...

Well I heard that mahogany gives you a lot more mids, and his new Crunch Lab pickup has a bit more mids than the D Sonic, so that probably makes up for it.

Makes sense...as it is using his settings from his website with my D-Sonic in my 7 string, I find it very mid heavy. I'm trying to find a balance between making the higher strings sound bassy and full without making the low B sound punchy and muddy

you work to remove the punch? i find that low frequencies add a bit of old school taste to it and that a boost around 100hz is where the heaviness is at.
