Sorry, I'm a newbie to MM guitars. I've been thinking about getting a new electric guitar. For a while I was thinking about Ibanez JEM 7V, PRS, and Parkers.

But after watching a clip with Jamie Humphries demoing the JP6, I was amazed by the sound of the guitar. I've never heard such a versatile guitar.

Now I have a new dilemma. I don't know what's the difference between the JPX-6 and the JP6. Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

The links the other guys posted will help you understand the specifications of the guitar.

From a player's perspective, the JPX is the *ultimate* JP guitar. For the most part, it feels like a BFR JP, but has a resonance the other JP guitars do not possess. It's also deceivingly light.

My suggestion to you, if you are looking to buy any of the JP guitars, is to try them out if you can. I have all 3 versions and can tell you without a doubt the JPX is my favorite, but that doesn't mean it will be your favorite also.

I think the biggest thing is the pickups. I love the new pickups in the JP's regardless of type. But the JPX is awsome! The Dsonic does not have the punch or crunch of the new dimarzios.

I agree. The Crunch Lab/Liquifire combo is amazing.

Switching is a big change too. You've got a 5-way instead of a three-way toggle which opens up a couple new tones you didn't have before.

This is very true. I find myself using the split positions on the JPX quite a bit.

Position 2 (center coils in parallel) sounds great for some Hendrix-esque tones.

I just played a JPX for about an hour or so and find I like it better than the BFR's but not as much as the original. I think I am really into the arm scoop for the way I hold a guitar, but all three versions are world class instruments. I also did not find the new JPX to have that much larger frets than the original or BFR. I guess I was expecting something like a Dunlop 6000 for that super huge feel. I do love the ebony board on the JPX or DD series...the 5 way doesn't do too much for me. And I still like that raw maple neck. All of them are super fine and I would be proud to own any of them, but I still rank them Original, JPX, BFR.

I really prefer the original too. Something about that arm scoop that eliminates 100% of the tension on my arm since there is no pressure on the tendons that move when you pick.
