Since I have to replace two of my stolen MusicMan, I figured I may try different models.

I'm GASing bad for a JPX but unfortunately, only because of the Barolo color. It's just too amazing. I'd love one with the piezo and Rosewood neck.

Unfortunately, my experience with the JP6 (barebones) was that it severely lacked sustain, enough for me to notice and be bothered by it.
I've listened to a few youtube videos and not really found much sustain in it, BUT most videos involve fast picking (a la, you guessed it, Petrucci) which is not my style at all.

If it's not for me, then no worries, I'll just get another Albert Lee HH ;) Although I really, really, really do wish these came with a Piezo so I could replace both my stolen AL HH and Axis w/piezo in one shot... (which where the JPX may hopefully come in).

Opinions away!

Hmmmmm I have a JPX and JP6 and haven't really noticed a diff in sustain. I guess I'm always practicing with high gain amps and are more focused on the neck and playability. They have the the same PUs, no?

Cool thanks! Did you also compare it to non-JP series? This is where I'm a little worried...
The AL HH sounded amazing but:
1) has no piezo
2) has no barolo :p

So of course the JPX is a very different axe, but I'm sure the Rosewood-necked one will sound fine for me, and the piezo allows it to also replace my Axis SS w/piezo.
