Hi all,

I'm new obviously, and I'm also new to Music Man. I just bought a JPXI, and I've been using fixed bridge forever. So a noob question... Will I need a new setup to be able to go to drop d, or should I be able, with my standard tuning setup, to detune my E string and keep the rest of the strings in tune?

Any advice would be welcome. Thanks, and sorry about the noob question.

It's a free-floating bridge so as soon as you lower the E to D, the rest of the strings will go out of tune. If a Tremel-No will fit, that would be a good solution.

Sometime I play in drop D with my JP BFR and it doesn't go out of tune so much. Yeah the tuning isn't perfect, I wouldn't make a record with that but just for some 'fun time' in drop D is ok IMO.

I'm in the same boat as MrJJoncas. My 'B' always goes out the slightest amout, though with a very quick little tune everything sounds perfect. The JP's are just awesome like that.

Tremel-No? Explain.

tremol-no fits on many trem styles with no physical mods to the guitar (no drilling, completely reversible). A thumb screw lets you lock the trem down and the guitar basically becomes a hardtail and detune. Loosen the thumb screw and you're back to trem.

I had this on a couple of Suhr Moderns and the system works great.

I guess I just don't understand the benefit of it. Still learning all these guitar terms. Hartail, dive only, etc. if it helps keep my guitar in tune when I go into drop D sign me up.

When locked, it stops the trem from moving at all. so If you use the trem alot, you wouldn't want to lock it.
