Hey guys, just sharing a little project that I'm working on. I recorded my version of Learning To Live using the JPXI. There's 2 versions:

1) Full-song (with drums, bass, vocals and keyboards)

2) Guitar tracks (just me and the original acoustic track, I don't have an acoustic).

Hope you like it. I plan on recording the full Images & Words album. If you have any questions regarding settings or techniques just ask me.

By the way, these videos are playback (there's no cable on the guitar or the amp). I recorded everything and the video was just for youtube exposure.

Wow! Verny nice guitar you have :)

Although i'm not the biggest dream theater fan, i do like john petrucci. And your playing comes very close in my opinion...great job, dude! :)

The settings are exactly what JP said on the official Mark V settings video when using the Mark IV mode. For the cleans I used the piezo and magnetic on the middle position (pulled knob) with TC Dreamscape chorus.

Nice playing - tone is indeed great. Almost too good :) How much post mastering was done on the guitar tracks?

The distorted rhythm guitar tracks were almost untouched as how they were recorded directly from the amp. The lead tone was EQ'ed (the mids) to achieve that cutting tone. The clean/piezo channel was also EQ'ed to work better along with the original clean/acoustic track.

The secret comes basically from having a JPXI and a Mark V, having the isolated tracks and practicing a lot.

I'm working on "Another Day" right now, and mastering the other songs. Images & Words is my favourite album of all time and I wanted to pay tribute.
