Hi,

I'm new to Music Man forums and guitars, and I'm looking to buy one of John Petrucci models. Currently it seems that I'm locked on JPXI model, but everywhere I look around the web I see JPXI models with BFR mark on fingerboard, and models without BFR mark.

I see that Ball Family Reserve is version with special woods etc. Is there any other specific difference in between these models, because on MM web I see only model without BFR mark ? Is price the same between the two models ?

Thanx !

Maybe my brain puts too much emphasis on it, but I love the 12th fret logo… very classy.

Thank you very much for clearing that up, this detail was puzzling me. :) So if I order new stock JPXI, I will actually get JPXI that is part of BFR, just it's no more stated on the 12th fret as inlay ? :)

This should be made clear somewhere on their site, or maybe I missed the thing, which is also possible :)

Yeah, and there are no different variations of the JPXI that I am aware of-- they are all BFRs. As was stated, it won't be on the 12th fret, but where the neck bolts to the guitar on the back of the guitar, there is a silver plate that says "Ernie Ball Music Man BFR"-- the BFR is in a sort-of cursive.

This was not really made public from what I found… I noticed it as you did and researched it myself and found they discontinued it.

Good luck! The JPXI is a great guitar.

They posted on the forums about it. The inlay makes no reflection on the guitar's specs nor quality. The JPXI is still a BFR and a SUPERB guitar for what it is, mine is a metal machine. And while my JPX7 and JPXI both have the badge, I honestly couldn't be bothered if it didn't have one. My Koa top JP6 looks awesome without it as well, I was quite against the idea when the JP13 was announced, but having 2 JP6's with standard dots. I prefer having the dots or just the shield inlays instead.

I like it better without the BFR logo. The fretboard already has a JP logo on it...too much is overkill.

Now the things are much clearer ! I was totally confused, seeing some models with the inlay, and the new models without it :) I thought that there are two models, one special BFR, and the other one regular :) I'm new to the Music Man guitars, and I just want to be absolutely sure what I'm going to buy.

Thank you all !
