Just A few final question before purchase!

Hello all!! I am a new member, although i have been lurking around here for a few months now! I have been saving up (and selling other guitars) for what i am convinced is my dream guitar! A fully loaded Mystic Dream JP6. I have obviously played a JP6, but i had time restraints(it killed me inside, all i wanted to do was play it, it was almost funny because i had a list of all these things to check, but couldn't stop playing it was too amazing!!) So I was just wondering if maybe you guys could help me over this last hump.

-can you control volume/mix of the piezo output?

-Do you have to adjust spring tension do downtune like a floyd?

-Do the strings come in 9s or 10s?

-How Amazing is this guitar?!?

any other information you feel may be beneficial to me knowing all the ins and outs would be greatly appreciated!!

First off: Welcome to the Forum!!!
I was in the same boat as you. I saved up forever to get my MD JP6, the guitar of my dreams. And I have yet to be dissappointed by it. Let's see if I can get all your questions.

-Yes you can control the volume of the piezo output. There is a volume knob assigned solely to controlling the strength of the piezo signal. There is also an output screw that affects the maximum output of the piezo preamp.

-Whenever I down-tune just a little bit, say to drop D or to Eflat tuning, I don't change the setup at all. If I were more serious about it I might make a small truss rod adjustment (it's really easy to do). The only difference it makes is in the angle of the bridge. It get's deformed a little by the loss in tension.
If you are going to keep your guitar detuned (something I never due) it might be worth it to adjust the claw length/add or take away a string.

-I believe that new guitars now come out of the factory with RPS 9's. Mine came with 10's but JP has recently switched

-And this is the easiest question. It's AMAZING! There is so much variety of tone, and all of it good. It's by far the most comfortable guitar I've ever played. The cutaway is a godsend, and the neck is divine. And Mystic Dream is definitely worth the cool points you'll get from everyone who sees it.

One more thing I think you should know: you should also feel very comfortable investing in this guitar because Ernie Ball will take care of you! Their Customer Service department is phenomenal!!! My piezo preamp had a problem so I sent it in. They replaced it (for free) and sent it back within two days, and even payed for the return shipping.

Good luck with your purchase and the long wait. It will definitely be worth it.

It seems like a lot of people have trouble with their piezo, and although I hear great great things about the CS at EBMM i still gotta ask? Is the piezo problem common?

If you detune your guitar and if you change guage for a bigger (f.e. E -9s, D-10s, etc) there is a huge possibility that you won't need to do any dramatic adjustment. For example I tune my JP to D standard and I changed strings to 10-52. The measure is perfect, height is perfect, neck is straight as it should be and the guitar is perfect!

This guitar is PERFECT and AMAZING indeed! You won't find anything like that. Plus it's a time to get your first ball

Mostly, people just don't know how to use the piezo and there's no problem with the guitar itself. When I told CS about my problem they said it had never happened before.

So, I wouldn't worry about it. But if there is a problem, CS will hook you up.

I've never had a problem with my piezo...

I was playing it a bit last night and realized that I need to make a few pot adjustments so that when I switch from mags to the piezo that it comes in at the same volume. No biggie...

Very cool option. You won't be disappointed.
