Welcome.....

Hope you enjoy your stay. There is a lot of useful information here. Some is good and some is just opinions, but I'm sure you will come away with something usable.

I did not see a Bongo on your Gear List......:D

i dig stingrays and sterlings most.

i've had my lava pearl stingray V for about 2 1/2 years and just love it. it is the best bass for praise and worship and covers hands down! I had a stingray bass a few years ago, but sold it, and regretted it.

although i really like that the bongo is 24 frets, it isn't my cup of tea looks wise :D, and i like the pre-amp of the stingray best. different strokes...

so i just bought new new vintage sunburst stingray 2-3 weeks ago and i really was planning on buying a sterling HS or stingray HH, but the bass i bought sounded the best of all the basses i played everywhere i went, so i ended up with a stingray single pick-up.

I don't usually slap (i play in an indie rock band), but the HH neck PU got in my way when i did. If there is one flaw of EBMM basses it is exposed pole pieces. I put EMGs in all my Fenders to combat this, but i cannot bear to change the stock EBMM pickup, but it sure roughs up my fingertips.

Welcome....

Steve Harris Iron Maiden Precision Bass

Beside the MM's, that's a good way to make me like you right from the start ;)

If there is one flaw of EBMM basses it is exposed pole pieces. I put EMGs in all my Fenders to combat this, but i cannot bear to change the stock EBMM pickup, but it sure roughs up my fingertips.

The newer EBMM models StingRays have rounded pole pieces that should not be hard on the fingertips anymore. I play exactly over the pickup up all the time, and I tend to dig in hard, especially live. I did have problems with the early sharp pole pieces, but no more with the rounded ones. They're really nice!

If your new 'Ray has sharp pole pieces, it was NOS and maybe you can get a replacement pickup from EBMM customer service.

Welcome.....StingRays and P-Basses ! Nothing wrong with that, except well maybe the Pbass, but it is a Steve Harris model, so a friend of Steve's is a friend of mine :D Oh and play the stings , not the pole pieces :p

thanks for the greetings guys!

yes the maiden bass rules. it doesn't sound that maiden-ish out of the box with the SD 1/4lb and with roto flats, but with rounds and EMGs helps it "up the irons" a bit more. i put on the DR blue colored (which aren't my favourite stings) but it looks awesome matching the lake placid blue body. killer!

my bass is brand new and the pole pieces are a little rounded (same with my stingray V, but the pole pices came a bit lower and don't bug me as much), but i play right over the pickup and i really got to watch it. in the heat of rocking out my fingertips pay the price.
