Greetings everyone!

A new user here and my first post! Nice to meet y'all!

Literally just 10 minutes ago I bit the bullet and bought this:

eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

It is an Island burst BFR. This is the first time I have ever bought a second hand guitar before and I am really nervous about spending this much money on a guitar I havnt even seen in the flesh! I was just wondering if anybody would be able to find out the year of this guitar?

Originally I had my heart set on ordering a new Cherry Burst JP6, but living here in the UK it is very hard to find any Musicman dealer and the best price i could find one for is £3000 ($4850!). One of the things that really turned me on to the cherry burst was the beautiful pinstripe and i was also wondering if one of you guys would be able to confirm if this island burst also has the pinstripe. It kinda looks like it does but a confirmation would be nice.

Cheers!

Welcome! The people here are awesome and crazy on MM. What do you mean with pinstripe? If you mean the rosewood veneer which makes the guitar have a binding; Yes, looks like this one has it :) Incredible looking guitar!

Looks slick! I hope it's amazing!

For the year, you can post to the serial number sticky on the forum and they'll give you the born on date. Just ask the seller for the serial number. :)

Yes sorry I meant the binding. Like the black one that the cherry burst jp6 has going around the body. I love it!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! I'm really looking forward to getting this thing in my hands and getting a feel of the neck. I played a jp6 a few years ago and remember then neck feeling amazing!

Congrats, welcome to the JP club! :D Beautiful piece you've got headed your way! Agree with you on the EBMM prices in the UK, incredible markup on them!

As for the date of the guitar, email customer service when you get the guitar with the serial number, and they'll be able to tell you the day it was finished on! :)

Here it is!

It's really stunning. Im afraid my poor photography skills are not doing me any justice, but this is one hard guitar to photograph! In words, to me it kinda looks like a cherry burst that has been glazed with toffee. In person it looks quite different to these pictures and more vibrant :)

I think overall I still would prefer the cherry burst finish but like I said, being all the way over in the UK I think this was a real steal. The condition is as close as new as it can be and if somebody asked me I would probably not have noticed, only I have no key to the hardcase!... Oh and the neck... Its like it was built for my hands! :D

All in all, one VERY happy chappy! :)
