I am going to the studio this weekend with a singer to record his new single, i posted the studio before but here it is again

http://www.grouselodge.com

its an amazing place. I met the guy last week to go over the song and it went like this

i walk in say hi ......small talk......lets get going, take out my bongo he looks at it and says have you not got a fender !!

i swear i nearly stuck it up his.....anyway i plug in start to play his song and his jaw drops.....the usual comes then wow thats amazing,my god the tone, what the hell is that !!!

so i went and got my fender just to let him know that i still have one but it doesn't get played that much.(i do still love it all the same )

he asked me to bring the bongo and the sr5,another convert:D

Yeah, but what would you expect...I get that crap with my Sting Ray...HELL, I get that with a J? What NO P?????

I do alot of my tracks in PT or DP, then post them on the FTP for the band...then they go.."oooo, man that bass sounds great which one was it"....

Depending on how I feel, I sometimes tell the truth!

One conversion at a time!

There is a real fender Bias in lots of Studio's....

There is a perception they sound better when the case may actually be that the engineers and producers are so used to hearing them they know exactly how to make it fit in a mix.

I have been through the same thing with other basses...Havent had a chance to record my sterling yet but hope to this weekend.

Also talked to someone who has done recording with Pete Davyduck and they just raived about the sound of his Bongo, so maybe the perception is slowly going away.

The words "lazy" and "uninspired" appeared nowhere in that post and yet I can FEEL their presence.

just got back yesterday, I will post some pic's later wont get the recordings until they are mastered. The studio is amazing prob the best set up in Ireland.

I went straight into the desk for all three of the songs. My SR5 played like a dream and sounded sweet as a nut.

The Bongo ...... the engineer had never seen one before and he was a bass player. after a wee chat about it we plugged it in. He was pretty impressed, the tone was amazing and with the volume dimed it gave off the nicest touch of overdrive, we where going to take it back a bit but it was so small you could barley hear it and it seemed to fit the song anyway.

I brought the first bongo to Grouse lodge studio but I don't think it will be the last.
