Today i saw a Godin guitar. The shape looked pretty similar to my Axis. But only half of the price. What impressed me was that Godin guitar got EMG 81 and 85 pickup set. Usually when a guitar got EMGs the price will be at least 800 dollars. So just wondering anyone here can give me a brief comparison between Axis and Godin. (model is GODIN LG EMG). this is not a ****ty guitar or i wont bother to ask you guys. it just reminds me of my axis. and its a lot cheaper!
p.s. pretty decent wood too!

Godin's are the electric arm of LaSiDo, a Canadian guitar company whose main factory is up here in LaPatrie, Quebec. They also make Norman, Simon & Patrick, Art & Lutherie and Seagull acoustic guitars. The electrics are manufactured in Canada but assembled in the US (some kind of trade deal going on there from before NAFTA, I imagine). They're generally no-frills, good quality electric guitars at bargain basement prices. I've owned several, including a Radiator and an LG SP90, but I've never really got on with their neck profiles, which I find to be wide and hard shouldered, with too shallow a fretboard radius... I still own a Seagull acoustic - an Artist Mahogany Folk - which is the best performance acoustic I've ever played... Insofar as Godin is concerned, they're definitely a bargain and worth looking at if you're not sure what you want - the Montreal electric jazz guitar is particularly enticing - but I prefer EBMM; the Godin necks can't really compete, imho... ymmv, of course...

Hello There

I own an Axis Sport and a Godin LGX-SA and the two are completely different beast. My Godin has a mahogany body and a maple cap, the neck is also mahogany with an ebony board. I got this guitar because it has a piezo which can be quite difficult to get on a lefty guitar. I was fortunate enough to buy it just before godin stopped producing this model in lefty version. The neck is more "baseball bat"-like (think LP neck) and of course it is a finished neck which can feel sticky compared to those wonderful EBMM necks.

My Godin sounds awesome on the clean channel. My Axis sport is just unbeatable when it comes to Classic/Hard rock.

Quality wise I would say that Godin are up there, very good craftmanship and definately an extremely good value for the price.
