Spud, why didn't you gun stock oil/wax the maple fretboard, rather than just using lemon oil? It lasts a whole lot longer.

I may try it next time Candid, it's just that my guitar building buddy gave me some lemon oil (cos he doesn't like using it - says it goes "rancid"). He uses "baby oil".

Being a cheapskate ;), I was happy to accept his freebies and I'm liking the results.

Looks ok though doesn't it?

spud the pic of the back of the black cherry looks pretty awesome.

Phaty, cheers for that it is a great looking axe and plays like butta!!

Re the steel wool guys, brent is right in what he says - the frets are in A1 condition profile and level wise. I use the very fine grade wire wool to polish them up and to remove oxydation.
It's also used on the fretboard to remove any marks.
The masking tape is used to protect the pickups from shards and also the body from any oil residues.

Oh, it's a beautiful guitar, Spud!

I'm more about function than form, and the BWC finish just holds up better. That's why I prefer it over lemon oil, baby oil or WWs for maple bits. Plus, I love the natural wood feel it leaves.

Lemon juice?? :D

of Balls: The Axis and the Luke. Gave them both the royal treatment w/ lemon juice, tru-oil and gun wax (not on the Luke's rosewood fretboard) and my wife wants to know if there will ever be a time that I caress and rub oil on her the same way. I turned around and said, "Did you say something dear? Can't you see I'm having a private moment"? Ha Ha Ha

I will be getting some wonder wipes to try in the near future but I already had all this stuff anyway.
