So, I got together with these guys that I've gigged with a few times before for a local pickup gig last night...we blew the doors off the hinges...smokin'!

I remember our main guitar player coming to me, saying "I wish we had rolled tape tonight!"

Considering the expertise these guys possess, not only of their instruments, but also of blues/jazz/R&B/country...I felt really good about the fact that I was able to keep the rhythm section intact for these guys.

Well, apparently, they felt the same way...I've been offered a steady Tuesday night gig with these guys!

I feel extremely humble right now. This is a great learning opportunity for me...a musical leap as it were.

Just thought I'd share this with everybody.

Congrats bro! From what I saw/heard at the open house, you deserve this gig, and any others that come along.

Hey guys ~ Thanks for the great responses! There's definitely a family feel here!

Welcome Sandman...or should I say 'Enter Sandman'?

For my first 'official' gig with these guys next Tuesday, I've picked up a t-shirt from BB King's Blues Club and Grill NYC to wear to the kickoff.

Headed home tomorrow...got blisters on my feet from covering damn-near every inch of Midtown on down to Ground Zero (very sobering!).

Also have a new bass to take home...not a new Bongo (better luck and finances next time), but a new Fender Aerodyne Jazz 4 Bass for my blues gigs...

...with the 'Stealthy One' as my backup!

I had to read that a couple of times - are you talking about ME?
Why yes...oh Modest One! :D

I've watched/listened to the CowPilot clips...you under-rate yourself...quite often I might add.

BTW, the infamous B4 HSC BI PG has arrived...will install later.

Thank you LB and Dude!

Well done and well deserved

Glad you could walk awy from your trip with a souvenir as well :D
Thanks Michael! That was the 'almost ultimate' NYC souvenir...a new Bongo single-H would have been perfect...but no complaints here.

Dang, thanks, man.

I am but a simple hack....but I love it with all my heart.

I saw a lot of guys at Open House that made me think, "Why didn't I take up the glockenspiel?"

So, tonight was the initiation gig...a sh*tload of fun and great music!

Talk about four guys who gel...

BTW, I hate to say it on this board, but the Fender Aerodyne Jazz performed like a trooper...however, the Bongo is no way in danger!

Well, talk about things turning on a dime...I've just quit the band.

I was already growing weary of the drummer's BS and erratic meter.

It was a red flag that I chose to ignore for the sake of being able to play with these other guys, who not only were great players, but very easy-going.

I guess it only takes one bad apple...

...surprisingly, I'm not bummed.

Oh well...next!

Guess it wasn't so steady after all. Too bad, but I'm sure something else will come along.
